Got item today. First, I tried to attach to dash but suction did not happen. Instructions do suggest for such surfaces to use the provided plate. So, I did that and it did allow for suction. As you can see, I have my radar detector attached. This is because the summer heat keeps melting the windshield attachment that is suggested for the detector. The test now is how well will the adhesive on the suction plate holds up in this heat. Other than that, the product feels sturdy and well made. The turning action that applies and releases it works with ease and seems reliable. Time and use will tell.
